Bruce Norris

Playwright

Bruce Norris is the author of CLYBOURNE PARK, which won the Olivier and Evening Standard Awards (London) for Best Play, 2010, as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 2011. Other plays include The Infidel (2000), Purple Heart (2002), We All Went Down to Amsterdam (2003), The Pain and the Itch (2004), The Unmentionables (2006) and A Parallelogram (2010) all of which had their premieres at Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago. His newest play, Domesticated, will be produced by Lincoln Center Theatre in 2013. His work has been seen at Playwrights Horizons (New York), Woolly Mammoth Theatre (Washington D.C.) n (Chicago), Philadelphia Theatre Company, and Staatstheater Mainz (Germany), among others. He is also the 2009 recipient of the Steinberg Playwright Award.

Director

Pam MacKinnon is an Obie and Lilly Award recipient. Recent credits include: Itamar Moses' Completeness (Playwrights Horizons, SCR) and The Four of Us (MTC, Old Globe) and Bach at Leipzig (NYTW); David Weiner's Extraordinary Chambers (Geffen); Rachel Axler's Smudge (WPP); Cusi Cram's A Lifetime Burning (Primary Stages); Bruce Norris's CLYBOURNE PARK (Playwrights Horizons, Taper) and The Unmentionables (Woolly Mammoth).  She is a frequent interpreter of the plays of Edward Albee, having directed Peter and Jerry (Second Stage, Hartford); Occupant (Signature); A Delicate Balance (Arena); The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia? (Alley, Vienna); The Play About the Baby (Philadelphia, Goodman); Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Steppenwolf, Arena, upcoming Broadway).  She is an alumna of the Lincoln Center Directors' Lab and the Drama League and sits on the board of the downtown theater Clubbed Thumb, Inc. committed to new American plays.

Center Theatre Group (Michael Ritchie, Artistic Director; Edward L. Rada, Managing Director; Douglas C. Baker, Producing Director) is one of the largest and most active theatre companies in the nation, programming seasons at the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre. In the most current six seasons, a total of 29 world premieres have been presented, and 13 productions have gone on to New York, including The Drowsy Chaperone, Curtains, 9 to 5 the Musical, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, 13 and Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. This production of CLYBOURNE PARK was presented at the Taper in January-February 2012.

Lincoln Center Theater

Lincoln Center Theater is currently producing the Tony® Award-winning Best Play, War Horse, at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and 4000 Miles at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center as well as Other Desert Cities on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. LCT develops new work through play readings, workshops and an annual Directors Lab. Open Stages, LCT’s education program, reaches thousands of NYC public school students annually. LCT also presents a “platform” discussion series and publishes the Lincoln Center Theater Review, which is available in the lobby of this theatre. Now nearing completion on the roof of the Beaumont is LCT’s newest stage, the Claire Tow Theater, home to LCT3, which will open in June with the new play Slowgirl.

Playwrights Horizons is a writer’s theatre dedicated to the development of contemporary American playwrights, composers and lyricists.
